ESCUDELLA DE SANT ANTONI
In the early 70’s, some friends in Meritxell Avenue who were celebrating their namesake on Sant Antoni’s day decided to celebrate, around their businesses, by offering a plate of escudella to their neighbours and fellow townsfolk. It was, in some ways, the revival of a centuries-old tradition as Sant Antoni’s day, the 17th January, had been used to distribute food among the poorest in the parish.
